Cultural heritage of Bangladesh.
Answer : Over the centuries, Bangladesh has become an agrarian society. So its lake-culture is based on the customs and rhythms of rural life. Despite the trend of urbanization and globalization, the culture of both our urban and rural communities is lake based. There are three types of cultural trends in Bangladesh such as urban culture, lake culture and tribal culture. What has originated over the centuries is a reflection of the way of life of a large population in rural areas. It is basically local and rural culture.
শতাব্দীকাল ধরে বাংলাদেশ একটা কৃষিভিত্তিক সমাজে পরিণত হয়েছে। তাই এর লােক-সংস্কৃতি গ্রামীণ জীবনের প্রথা ও ছন্দের উপর ভিত্তি করে গড়ে ওঠে। নগরায়ন এবং বিশ্বায়নের প্রবণতা সত্ত্বেও, আমাদের শহুরে ও গ্রামীণ উভয় সম্প্রদায়ের সংস্কৃতি লােক ভিত্তিক।বাংলাদেশে তিন রকমের সাংস্কৃতিক ধারা রয়েছে যেমন- শহুরে সংস্কৃতি, লােকসংস্কৃতি এবং উপজাতীয় সংস্কৃতি। যা শতাব্দীকাল ধরে গ্রামীণ এলাকার বিশাল জনসংখ্যার জীবন পদ্ধতিকে প্রতিফলিত করে উৎপত্তি লাভ করেছে সেটা হচ্ছে লাকসংস্কৃতি। এটা মূলত স্থানীয় ও গ্রামীণ সংস্কৃতি।
Urban culture develops in the small scale of urban areas from the occupations, decorations, festivals, gatherings and production systems of the people of the city. This culture is subtle, complex, diverse, dynamic and stylish. It expands and improves the process of change and transformation through inclusion and exclusion.

The nature-based way of life of the rural people is mainly traditional, simple and pleasing. The villagers do not get the opportunity of formal education. They lead their lives by accumulating experience in ancestry from their ancestors in production, vehicles, machinery, clothing, food, customs and rituals, petitions, etc. The main features of their culture are simplicity, clarity and openness.
গ্রামীণ লােকজনের প্রকৃতি নির্ভর জীবন পদ্ধতি প্রধানত ঐতিহ্যগত, সাধারণ ও মনহুর। গ্রামবাসীরা আনুষ্ঠানিক শিক্ষার সুযােগ পায় না। তারা পুর্বপুরুষদের থেকে উৎপাদন, যানবাহন, যন্ত্রপাতি, পােশাক-পরিচ্ছদ, খাদ্য, প্রথা ও অনুষ্ঠান, বিনােদন ইত্যাদি সমপর্কে অভিজ্ঞতা সঞ্চয় করে তাদের জীবন পরিচালনা করে। তাদের সংস্কৃতির প্রধান বৈশিষ্ট্যগুলি হচ্ছে সরলতা, স্পষ্টতা ও অকপটতা।
There are thirty-two tribes in Bangladesh. In a sense, tribal culture is dominated by Lake culture. But due to differences in some aspects they are considered as a distinct one. Tribal culture is largely conservative, unchanging and traditional. The tribal culture is the culture of Santal, Rakhine, Marma, Khasias. They have their own beliefs and traditions of celebrating different kinds of festivals. Lake art is a traditional art that develops over time through communal practice. This art combines aesthetics with passion. Again these artistic things meet our daily needs. Some of the lakeshilpas related to customs and traditions are Alpana, Mansaghat, Mangal Ghat, Lakshi Sara etc.
বাংলাদেশে বত্রিশটি উপজাতি রয়েছে। এক অর্থে উপজাতীয় সংস্কৃতি লােকসংস্কৃতির আয়ত্ত্বাধীন। কিন্তু কতিপয় দিক দিয়ে ভিন্নতার কারণে তারা স্বতন্ত্র একটি হিসেবে বিবেচিত হয়। উপজাতীয় সংস্কৃতি ব্যপকভাবে রক্ষণশীল, অপরিবর্তনীয় এবং ঐতিহ্যনির্ভর। উপজাতীয় সংস্কৃতি হচ্ছে সাঁওতাল, রাখাইন, মারমা, খাসিয়াদের সংস্কৃতি। তাদের নিজস্ব বিশ্বাস ও বিভিন্ন ধরণের উৎসব পালনের রীতি রয়েছে। লােক শিল্প একটি ঐতিহ্যবাহী শিল্প যা সাম্প্রদায়িক অনুশীলনের মাধ্যমে সময়ের সাথে সাথে বিকশিত হয়। এই শিল্প আবেগের সাথে নান্দনিকতার সংমিশ্রণ ঘটায়। আবার এই শৈল্পিক জিনিসগুলো আমাদের দৈনন্দিন প্রয়ােজনীয়তা পূরণ করে। প্রথা ও রীতিনীতি সমপর্কিত কিছু লােকশিল্প হচ্ছে আলপনা, মনসাঘাট, মঙ্গল ঘাট, লক্ষীর সারা ইত্যাদি।
But now with the horrific presence of global culture, the younger generation is forgetting their own traditions. They have forgotten the traditional pleas in the opinion of Jarigan, Sarigan, Kavigan, Palligiti, Bhatiali, Bhavaiya etc. They are busy with pop music and English and Hindi channels.
কিন্তু বর্তমানে বৈশ্বিক সংস্কৃতির ভয়াবহ উপস্থিতির সাথে তরুণ প্রজন্ম তাদের নিজস্ব ঐতিহ্য ভুলতে বসেছে। তারা জারিগান, সারিগান, কবিগান, পল্লীগীতি, ভাটিয়ালী, ভাওয়াইয়া ইত্যাদির মতাে ঐতিহ্যবাহী বিনােদনগুলাে ভুলে গিয়েছে। তারা পপ সংগীত এবং ইংলিশ আর হিন্দি চ্যানেল নিয়ে ব্যস্ত।
In conclusion, we can say that the cultural heritage of Bangladesh is very rich and diverse. It has been formed over the centuries. We should protect this tradition from the clutches of foreign culture and its domination.
উপসংহারে আমরা বলতে পারি যে বাংলাদেশের সাংস্কৃতিক ঐতিহ্য খুবই সমৃদ্ধ এবং বিচিত্র। এটি শতাব্দীকাল ধরে গঠিত হয়েছে। আমাদের উচিত বিদেশী সংস্কৃতির থাবা এবং এর কর্তৃত্ব থেকে এই ঐতিহ্যকে রক্ষা করা।
