যখন আমাদের বিদ্যালয় গ্রীষ্মের ছুটিতে কধ ছিলাে তখন আমি একটা রেল ভ্রমণের সুযােগ পেয়ে ছিলাম। আমার চাচা চট্টগ্রাম বাস করেন। তিনি একজন কলেজ শিক্ষকও। তিনিও গ্রীষ্মের ছুটি পেয়েছিলেন। তাই তিনি উনাকে দেখতে যাওয়ার জন্য আমাদেরক আমন্ত্রণ জানিয়েছিলেন। এই ছুটির সময়ে আমি সুযােগটি নেওয়ার সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছিলাম। একটা সুন্দর সকালে আমি আব্দুর সাথে চট্টগ্রামগামী একটা ট্রেন ধরার জন্য কমলাপুর রেলওয়ে স্টেশনের উদ্দেশ্যে যাত্রা করি।
We go there and collect tickets. Soon the train arrived and we boarded it. When the train started moving, the whole station went out of sight. After a while we walked away from the rubbish and smoke of the crowded city and happily breathed in the fresh air of the village. On both sides of the railway line I saw some poor people living under the sky. There are some residences that seem very miserable.
আমরা সেখানে যাই এবং টিকেট সংগ্রহ করি। শীঘ্র ট্রেনটি এসে পৌছে এবং আমরা এতে আরােহণ করি। যখন ট্রেন চলা শুরু করলাে, পুরাে স্টেশন দৃষ্টির আড়ালে চলে গেল। একটু পরে আমরা জনাকীর্ণ শহরের আবর্জনা ও ধোঁয়া থেকে দুরে চলে গেলাম এবং সানন্দে গ্রামের বিশুদ্ধ বাতাসে নিঃশ্বাস নিলাম। রেল লাইনের উভয় পাশে আমি দরিদ্র কজনকে.খােলা আকাশের নিচে বসবাস করতে দেখলাম। কিছু বাসস্থান রয়েছে যেগুলাে খুব দুর্দশাগ্রস্ত মনে হলাে।
We had a mail train, so it didn't stop at all stations. My abdu brought food to the box and carrier. So we ate lunch on the train that my mother made. After lunch I looked out at the rapidly changing scenery outside. I began to look at the beauty of nature.

We reached Chittagong station in the evening. I saw my uncle waiting on the platform to greet us. As we descended, we noticed the setting sun in the form of a red ball of fire just below the western horizon.
