A Village Doctor.
Answer : A village doctor is an unregistered physician who gives medical care to the village people. He is an important figure in rural areas as he plays a vital role in the healthcare service of the villagers. He is a common man to almost every villager. Though most of the village doctors are not duly qualified it matters a little. A village doctor is competent to deal with the common diseases of the villagers. Usually he starts his service offer working with a doctor or taking a short training on medical care. The dispensary of a village doctor is not rich. There is one or two almirah with a small stock of medicine. He has a chair and a table for his own use and a bench for the patients. A village doctor is a busy man. In the morning he sees patients in his dispensary. He works from morning till late night. Then he goes out to visit the house where he is called. Generally he goes on foot. Sometimes he depends on bi-cycle. His fees are normal. Nowadays many M,B.B.S. doctors have started to work in the village. As a result, the business of quack doctor is shrinking. A village doctor is a friend to the villagers. He may not have a degree but villagers have faith in him and they depend on him in most of the cases. Though he has many shortcomings, a village doctor is a useful person in the context of rural Bangladesh.

বঙ্গানুবাদ : গ্রাম্য ডাক্তার হলেন একজন অনিবন্ধীকৃত ডাক্তার যিনি গ্রামের লোকদের চিকিৎসা সেবা দিয়ে থাকেন। তিনি গ্রাম এলাকার একজন গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ব্যক্তি কারণ তিনি গ্রামের স্বাস্থ্যসেবায় গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা পালন করেন। তিনি প্রায় প্রতিটি গ্রামবাসীর নিকট একজন পরিচিত ব্যক্তি। যদিও বেশীরভাগ গ্রাম্য ডাক্তার উপযুক্ত শিক্ষায় শিক্ষিত নন তথাপি এতে কিছু আসে যায় না। গ্রাম্য ডাক্তার গ্রামবাসীদের সাধারণ রােগের চিকিৎসা করতে সক্ষম। সাধারণত তিনি কোনা ডাক্তারের সাথে কাজ করে বা চিকিৎসা শাস্ত্রে স্বল্পমেয়াদী প্রশিক্ষণ নিয়ে তার পেশা শুরু করেন। গ্রাম্য ডাক্তারের ঔষধালয় সমৃদ্ধ নয়। এক দুটি আলমারীতে অল্প কিছু ঔষধের মজুত নিয়ে তার ঔষধের দোকান। তার দোকানে নিজের জন্য একটি চেয়ার এবং একটি টেবিল এবং রােগীদের জন্য একটা বেঞ্চ থাকে। গ্রাম্য ডাক্তার একজন ব্যস্ত লােক। সকালে তিনি তার ঔষধালয়ে রােগী দেখেন। তিনি সকাল থেকে গভীর রাত পর্যন্ত কাজ করেন। তারপর তিনি যেখানে তাকে ডাকা হয় সেখানেই যান। সাধারণত তিনি পায়ে হেঁটে যাতায়াত করেন। মাঝে মধ্যে সাথে করে বাই সাইকেলও নেন। তার ফি অল্প। আজকাল অনেক এমবিবিএস পাশ করা ডাক্তারও গ্রামে কাজ করতে শুরু করেছেন। ফলে হাতুড়ে ডাক্তারের ব্যবসা সংকুচিত হচ্ছে। গ্রাম্য ডাক্তার গ্রামবাসীদের কধু। তার কোন ডিগ্রি নাও থাকতে পারে। কিন্তু গ্রামবাসীদের তার প্রতি ভঁরসা থাকে এবং বেশীরভাগ ক্ষেত্রে তার উপর নির্ভর করে। যদিও তার অনেক বিষয়ে অজ্ঞতা রয়েছে তথাপি বাংলাদেশের গ্রামের পরিস্থিতিতে তিনি একজন উপকারী ব্যক্তি।
