Answer : Last Friday, I went to bed at 11.00 pm. Suddenly, I woke up hearing a hue and cry at a little distance. I got up from bed and rushed to the spot. I found that a cottage was burning in front of our house. The inhabitants of the house were crying and screaming. I found many people who were trying to put off the fire. They were carrying water barrels and other containers. The people, who were stranded in the cottage, were crying loudly for help and the local people were trying heart and soul to rescue them from the house. But they could not enter into the house due to heat and smoke. The fire was spreading gradually. After some time, a young man entered into the house and rescued a baby who was unconscious. We informed the fire brigade. After half an hour, the fire brigade reached the spot with water pipes and rescue materials. The fire fighters then started fighting to extinguish the fire. They had to face some problem due to narrow road and shortage of sufficient water. After an hour, they brought the situation under control. But they could not save the lives of three persons who were burnt badly, and died on the spot. I felt sorrow for them and returned home in the early morning with tearful eyes.

বঙ্গানুবাদ : গত শুক্রবার আমি রাত ১১ টায় ঘুমাতে যাই। হঠাৎ আমি অল্প দূরত্বে একটা শােরগােল শুনে জেগে উঠলাম। আমি বিছানা ছেড়ে উঠলাম এবং ঘটনাস্থলে ছুটে গেলাম। আমি দেখলাম যে আমাদের বাড়ির সামনে একটি কুঁড়েঘর পুড়ছে। বাড়িটির লােকজন চিতকার করছিল এবং কাঁদছিল। আমি দেখলাম অনেক লােক আগুন নেভানাের চেষ্টা করছে। তারা পানির নল এবং অন্যান্য পাত্র আনছিল। কুটিরে যারা আটকা পড়েছিল তারা সাহায্যের জন্য চিৎকার করছিল এবং এলাকার লােকজন মনে প্রাণে তাদের বাড়িটি থেকে উদ্ধার করতে চেষ্টা করছিল। কিন্তু তারা উত্তাপ এবং ধােয়ার কারণে বাড়িটিতে ঢুকতে পারছিল না। ধীরে ধীরে আগুন বাড়ছিল। কিছুক্ষণ পরে এক যুবক বাড়িটিতে ঢুকল এবং জ্ঞান হারানাে একটা শিশুকে উদ্ধার করল। আমরা দমকল বাহিনীকে খবর দিলাম। আধা ঘণ্টা পরে দমকল বাহিনী পানির পাইপ এবং দ্ধারের যন্ত্রপাতি নিয়ে ঘটনাস্থলে পৌছল। তারপর দমকল কর্মীরা আগুন নেভানাের চেষ্টা করতে লাগল। তাদেরকে সংকীর্ণ রাস্তা এবং যথেষ্ট পরিমাণ পানির ঘাটতির কারণে সমস্যায় পড়তে হয়েছিল। একঘণ্টা পর তারা সব কিছু স্বাভাবিক অবস্থায় নিয়ে আসল। কিন্তু তারা তিনজন ব্যক্তিকে বাঁচাতে পারেনি যারা খুব বাজেভাবে পুড়ে গিয়েছিল এবং ঘটনাস্থলেই মারা গিয়েছিল। আমার তাদের জন্যে খুব কষ্ট লাগছিল এবং আমি খুব ভােরে অশ্ুভরা নয়নে বাড়িতে ফিরে আসলাম।
