Rickshaw Puller.
Answer : A person who makes a living by driving a rickshaw is called a rickshaw puller. He is a familiar face in the city and town. He usually wears a loose shirt and a loincloth. There is an impression of lack in his eyes. So his appearance does not look good. The life of a rickshaw puller is full of sorrow. He usually lives in a slum. Occasionally he has to spend the night under the sky. Usually the rickshaw driver does not have his own rickshaw. He rented it from the owner. It takes away a lot of his freedom because he has to work in shifts. He works sometimes during the day and sometimes at night. For passengers he waits at the bus stand, at the train station, in front of the cinema hall and on the street corner. He tries to attract people's attention by ringing the bell or shouting. Rickshaw pullers do not enjoy any leave. If he doesn't work, he and his family will starve. His labor is inhumane. Raed and rain test their strength on him. Its demand also increases when the weather is extremely hot or bad. Passengers also always think that he wants more fare. So they bargain. The rickshaw puller is one of the most oppressed people in our society. We should do something to improve it.

বঙ্গানুবাদ : যে ব্যক্তি রিক্সা চালিয়ে তার জীবিকা নির্বাহ করে তাকে রিক্সাচালক বলে। সে শহর ও নগরীতে একটা পরিচিত মুখ। সাধারণত সে একটা ছেড়া জামা ও লুজ্গি পরিধান করে। তার চোাখেমুখে অভাবের একটা ছাপ থাকে। তাই তার চেহারাসুরত ভালাে দেখায় না। রিক্সাচালকের জীবন দুঃখ-করষ্টে পরিপূর্ণ। সে সাধারণত বস্তিতে থাকে। মাঝেমধ্যে তাকে আকাশের নীচে রাত কাটাতে হয়। সাধারণত রিক্সা চালকের নিজের রিক্সা থাকে না। সে মালিকের কাছ থেকে এটা ভাড়ায় নেয়। এটি তার অনেকটুকু স্বাধীনতা কেড়ে নেয় কারণ তাকে পালাক্রমে কাজ করতে হয়। সে মাঝে মধ্যে দিনে ও মাঝে মধ্যে রাতে কাজ করে। যাত্রীদের জন্য সে বাস স্ট্যান্ডে, রেল স্টেশনে, সিনেমা হলের সামনে এবং রাস্তার কোনায় অপেক্ষা করে। সে বেল বাজিয়ে অথবা চিৎকার করে মানুষের মনােযােগ আকর্ষণের চেষ্টা করে। রিক্সাচালক কোন ছুটি উপভােগ করে না। যদি সে কানদিন কাজ না করে তাহলে সে ও তার পরিবার অভূক্ত থাকে। তার শ্রম অমানবিক। রােদ ও বৃষ্টি তার উপর তাদের শক্তির পরীক্ষা চালায়। যখন আবহাওয়া অত্যন্ত গরম বা খারাপ থাকে তখন তার চাহিদাও বেড়ে যায়। যাত্রীরাও সবসময় মনে করে যে সে বেশী ভাড়া চাচ্ছে। তাই তারা দর কষাকষি করে। রিক্সা চালক আমাদের সমাজের সবচেয়ে শােষিত ব্যক্তিদের মধ্যে অন্যতম। তার উন্নতিসাধনে আমাদের কিছু করা উচিৎ।
