Answer : Once upon a time there was a king who was very fond of knowing his future from astrologers. A good astrologer happened to stop at his capital on his way to Benaras. The king called on him to know his future. The astrologer said something unpleasant. At this the king got furious and condemned him to death saying, "Man like you should not live to spoil the peace of the world." But another thought crossed his mind before the astrologer was taken for execution. "How long would you live?" asked the king. He then thought for a while for some way of escape. He thought that the king would prove him as a liar putting him to death. With a ready wit he said, "The stars declare that I shall die. only a week before your Majesty. So good bye. I shall receive your Majesty where you are sending me. At this, the king turned pale as dead and shouted, "“Drive this wretch away.-Let him not come again." Thus, the astrologer saved his life by his ready wit.

বঙ্গানুবাদ : একদা এক রাজা ছিল যে জ্যোতিষির কাছে নিজের ভবিষ্যত জানতে খুব পছন্দ করত। বেনারাসে যাবার পথে এক জ্যোতিষি এসে তার শহরে থামল। রাজা তার ভবিষ্যত জানার জন্যে তার সাথে দেখা করল। জ্যোতিষি অপ্রীতিকর কিছু বলল। এতে রাজা ক্রোধান্বিত হয়ে তাকে মৃত্যুদন্ডের আদেশ দিলেন এবং বললেন, "তোেমার মতাে মানুষ বেঁচে থেকে পৃথিবীর শান্তি নষ্ট করা উচিত না। " জ্যোতিষিকে মৃত্যুদন্ড দেয়ার জন্যে নেয়ার পূর্বে তার মনে আরেকটা ভাবনার উদয় হলাে। রাজা জিজ্ঞেস করলেন, "তুমি কতদিন বাঁচবে?" সে তখন কীভাবে বাঁচা যায় তার উপায় নিয়ে কিছুক্ষণ ভাবল। সে ভাবলাে রাজা তাকে মৃত্যুদন্ড দিয়ে মিথ্যাবাদী প্রমাণিত করবে। উপস্থিত বুদ্ধি দিয়ে সে বলল, মহারাজ, জ্যোতিফের ভাষ্যমতে আমি আপনার মাত্র এক সপ্তাহ আগে মারা যাব। সুতরাং বিদায়। আপনি আমাকে যেখানে পাঠাচ্ছেন সেখানেই আমি আপনাকে অভ্যর্থনা জানাব। এতে রাজা মৃত মানুষের মতাে ফ্যাকাশে হয়ে গেল এবং চিৎকার করে বলল, এই নরাধমকে বিদায় কর। সে যেন আর কখনাে না আসে।" এভাবেই উপস্থিত বুদ্ধি দিয়ে জ্যোতিষিটি তার জীবন রক্ষা করল।
