Answer : Once there were two friends. Most of the time they passed time together. They were very fond of travelling. One day they were going through a deep forest. They were talking about true friendship. They promised that they would help each other at the time of danger. Suddenly they saw a bear coming towards them. So both of them were afraid. They were in a fix what to do. One of them knew how to climb up a tree. He asked the other friend if he would know how to climb up a tree. The other friend answered in the negative. Then the first one climbed up a tree leaving the other. The other friend was helpless. Suddenly, an idea came to his mind. He knew that the bear does not eat a dead animal. So, he lay on the ground and pretended to be dead. The bear came. It smelt the lying friend and thought him to be dead. Then it went away. The first friend came down from the tree. He asked the other friend what the bear had told him in the ear. The other friend answered that the bear advised him not to mix with such a man who leaves his friend in danger.

বঙ্গানুবাদ : একদা দুজন বন্ধু ছিল। বেশিরভাগ সময়ই তারা এক সাথে কাটাত। তারা খুবই ভ্রমণ পিপাসু ছিল। একদিন তারা এক গভীর বনের মধ্য দিয়ে হটছিল। তারা সত্যিকারের কন্ধত্ব নিয়ে আলােচনা করছিল। তারা বিপদের সময় তাকে একে অপরকে সাহায্য করার প্রতিজ্ঞা করল। হঠাৎ তারা দেখল একটি ভালুক তাদের দিকেই আসছে। তারা উভয়েই ভয় পেল। তারা কী করবে বুঝতে পারছিল না। তাদের একজন গাছে চড়তে জানত। সে অন্য কধুকে জিজ্ঞেস করল সে গাছে উঠতে জানে কিনা। অন্য বন্ধু বলল যে সে জানে না। তারপর প্রথম কন্ধ অন্যজনকে রেখে গাছে উঠে গেল। অপর বন্ধুটি অসহায় হয়ে পড়ল। হঠাৎ তার মাথায় একটা বুদ্ধি এলাে। সে জানত যে ভালুক মৃত প্রাণী খায়না কাজেই সে মাটিতে শুয়ে মরার ভান করল। ভালুকটি এলাে। সে শুয়ে থাকা কন্ধুটিকে শুঁকল এবং ভাবল সে মৃত। অতঃপর এটি চলে গেল। প্রথম কন্ধুটি গাছ থেকে নামল। সে অপর বন্ধুর কাছে ভালুকটি কানে কানে কী বলেছে তা জানতে চাইল। অপর বন্ধুটি বলল যে, য়ে তার বন্ধুকে বিপদের সময় ছেড়ে যায় তার সাথে না মেশার জন্যে ভালুকটি তাকে উপদেশ দিয়েছে।
