Answer : Once there was a clever fox in a jungle. One day, when the fox was walking through the jungle, he fell into a trap. He could somehow get out of the trap, but he had to leave his tail. So he was looking very ugly. He was feeling very uneasy to walk with his mates. He started to think what to do. He was looking for a solution. The fox was very cunning indeed. So he thought a trick to apply on the other foxes of the forest. One day he called a meeting with other foxes. All the foxes of the jungle attended the meeting and eagerly waited to listen to him. He told them that the tail is an unnecessary organ and a burden for them. It also looks ugly. Without it they would feel lighter and could run faster. So it is better to cut it out. No fox could get the cunningness of the fox. They all agreed with him and decided to cut their tails. An old fox understood it and explained the matter to all of them that their tail is their beauty and without it they would look strange. As the fox has lost his tail so he wants to cut out other's tails. So nobody listened to the clever fox. Finally he had to leave the place being disheartened at once.

বঙ্গানুবাদ : একদা এক বনে ছিল এক চতুর শিয়াল। একদিন, যখন শিয়ালটি বনের ভিতর দিয়ে যাচ্ছিল তখন সে একটি ফাঁদে পড়ল। সে কোনরকমে ফাঁসটি থেকে বেরিয়ে আসতে পারলাে কিন্তু কোনােভাবে ফাঁদ থেকে মুক্তিপেলেও তার লেজটি হারাতে হলাে। তাই তাকে কুৎসিত দেখাচ্ছিল। সে তার সঙ্গীদের সাথে ঘুরে বেড়াতে অস্বস্তি বােধ করতে লাগল। সে কী করা যায় ভাবতে লাগল। সে একটি সমাধান খুঁজছিল। শিয়ালটি সত্যিকার অর্থেই চালাক ছিল। তাই সে বনের অন্যান্য শিয়ালদের উপর একটা কৌশল প্রয়োেগ করার কথা ভাবল। একদিন সে অন্য শিয়ালদের নিয়ে এক সভা ডাকল। বনের সব শিয়াল সভায় উপস্থিত হলাে এবং তারা কথা শােনার জন্যে আগ্রহ নিয়ে অপেক্ষা করতে লাগল। সে তাদের বলল যে লেজ হলাে একটি অপ্রয়ােজনীয় অঙ্গ এবং তাদের জন্য বােঝাস্বরূপ। এটি দেখতেও কুৎসিত। এটি না থাকলে তারা হালকাবােধ করবে এবং দ্রুত দৌড়াতে পারবে। কাজেই এটি কেটে ফেলাই উত্তম। কোনো শিয়ালই তার চালাকি ধরতে পারল না। তারা প্রত্যেকেই তার কথায় সম্মত হলাে এবং তাদের লেজ কেটে ফেলার সিদ্ধান্ত নিল। একজন প্রবীণ শিয়াল ব্যাপারটি বুঝতে পারল এবং সবাইকে বুঝিয়ে বলল যে লেজ হলাে তাদের সৌন্দর্য এবং এটি ছাড়া তাদের অদ্ভুত লাগবে। শিয়ালটি নিজের লেজ হারিয়ে ফেলায় সে চায় অন্যরাও তাদের লেজ কেটে ফেলুক। কাজেই কেউই চালাক শিয়ালটির কথা শুনলনা। অবশেষে তাকে নিরুৎসাহিত হয়ে সাথে সাথেই সেই স্থান ত্যাগ করতে হলাে।
