একদা কিছু ইঁদুর এক ধনী লােকের বাসায় সুখে শান্তিতে বাস করছিল। তারা সবসময় চিৎকার করে, লাফিয়ে ঘুরে বেড়াত এমনকি বাচ্চাদের কামড়াতও। বাড়ির মালিক তাদের তাড়ানাের জন্যে একটি বিড়াল নিয়ে আসল। ইঁদুরগুলাে মহাবিপদে পড়ে গেল -----

Answer : Once upon a time some rats were having a good time at a rich man's house. They were always crying and jumping and even talking about biting children. The owner of the house brought a cat to evict them. The rats were in big trouble. They were very afraid of cats. They can't run the writing department as freely as before. One day they hit on the plan to get rid of the cat. So they held a meeting to decide how to get rid of the cat. They discussed the matter for a long time. However, no one was able to suggest a suitable plan.When the cat walks, the bell will ring and then we'll run away." And thanked him a lot. But there was an old mouse. He was silent. Now he said, "Definitely not a good plan. But who will ring the cat's bell ?" There was no answer. None of the rats wanted to do that. But it's never easy to accomplish them. The rat's joy disappeared in an instant. They left the place in despair.

বঙ্গানুবাদ : একদা কিছু ইদুর এক ধনী লােকের বাসায় সুখে শান্তিতে বাস করছিল। তারা সবসময় চিৎকার করে, লাফিয়ে ঘুরে বেড়াত এমনকি বাচ্চাদের কামড়াতও। বাড়ির মালিক তাদের তাড়ানাের জন্যে একটি বিড়াল নিয়ে আসল। ইদুরগুলাে মহাবিপদে পড়ে গেল। তারা বিড়ালটিকে ভয় পেত। তারা আগের মতাে স্বাধীনভাবে চলাফেরা করতে পারত না। একদিন তারা বিড়ালটি থেকে মুক্তি পাওয়ার জন্যে একটি পরিকল্পনা করল। বিড়ালটি থেকে কীভাবে মুক্তি পাওয়া যায় সেই ব্যাপারে সিদ্ধান্ত নিতে তারা একটি সভা ডাকল। তারা অনেকক্ষণ ব্যাপারটি নিয়ে আলােচনা করল। কিন্তু অবশেষে এক অল্পবয়সী ইদুর বলল, “বন্ধুরা, চল আমরা বিড়ালের গলায় একটি ঘণ্টা বেঁধে দেই, যখন বিড়ালটি হাঁটবে, তখন ঘন্টাটিও বাজবে। আর তখন আমরা পালাতে পারব।” “এটি আসলেই খুব ভালাে একটা পরিকল্পনা” প্রত্যেকটি ইদুর উল্লাসের সাথে বলল। প্রত্যেকেই তাকে প্রশংসা এবং অভিনন্দন জানাল। কিন্তু সেখানে একটি বয়স্ক ইদুর ছিল। সে পুরােটা সময় ধরেই নিচুপ ছিল। তখন সে বলল, “কোনাে সন্দেহ নেই যে এটি খুব ভালাে পরিকল্পনা। কিন্তু বিড়ালের গলায় ঘন্টাটি বাঁধবে কে ?” কোনাে উত্তর এলাে না। কোনাে ইদুরই তা করতে চাইল না। বয়স্ক ইদুরটি তখন বলল, “বসে বসে বড় বড় চিন্তা করা খুব সহজ। কিন্তু সেটা করা খুবই কঠিন।” মুহূর্তেই ইদুরদের সব আনন্দ ধুলিসাৎ হয়ে গেল। তারা ভগ্ন হৃদয়ে চলে গেল।
