Answer : Every country has a number of glorious days in its national life. December 16, 1971 is such a memorable and auspicious day in our national life. After a long 9 months of armed struggle, this day marks the beginning of a new chapter in our national history. So this day is declared as Victory Day. Bangladesh's Victory Day is associated with the history of the nation's bloody struggle. A glorious day that Bangladesh got in exchange for the fresh blood of 3 million martyrs. The dictatorial ruler Ayub Khan fell through a successful mass uprising in 1969 and called a general election in 1970 under the pressure of the mass movement. After Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his party won the majority in the election, the activities started according to the blueprint of the conspiracy. On the night of March 25, 1971, Pakistani General Tikka Khan attacked the innocent people of Dhaka city. All the cities were destroyed in the tank attack. The next day, after the declaration of independence on March 26, a long 9-month bloody struggle continued. In return for the respect of 3 million martyrs and countless mothers, we get our desired freedom. On 16th December, our national flag fluttered in the open air of Bangladesh. Many professional people including students, farmers, workers, intellectuals have given their lives for this freedom. The pain of our loss awoke in the midst of the joy of victory. We remember this day every year with deep respect, pride and joy and celebrate it with national dignity. Different countries of the world recognized this glorious emergence of Bangladesh and Bangladesh gained a dignified place on the world map as an independent and sovereign state.
