বঙ্গানুবাদ : একদা এক বনে একটি খরগােশ বাস করত। সে তার ক্ষিপ্রগতি নিয়ে সবসময় অহংকার করত। একটি কচ্ছপও সেখানে বাস করত। খরগােশটি সবসময় কচ্ছপকে তার ধীরগতি নিয়ে বিদ্রুপ করত। একদিন খরগােশ কচ্ছপকে একটি দৌড় প্রতিযােগিতায় আহ্বান জানাল। কচ্ছপ রাজি হল। পরদিন তারা প্রতিযােগিতা শুরু করল। নির্ধারিত স্থান থেকে তারা দৌড় শুরু করল। খরগােশ অল্প কিছুক্ষণ দৌড়াল। কিছুক্ষণের মধ্যেই সে কচ্ছপ থেকে অনেক এগিয়ে গেল। সে দেখল যে কচ্ছপ তার থেকে অনেক দূরে রয়েছে। সে নিজে নিজে বলল, “আমি অনায়াসে হালকা একটু ঘুমিয়ে নিতে পারি এবং তারপর কচ্ছপকে ছাড়িয়ে যেতে পারি।” তাই সে একটি গাছের নিচে বিশ্রাম নিতে বসল এবং ঘুমিয়ে পড়ল। কিন্তু কচ্ছপ ধীর ও স্থিরভাবে হেঁটেই যাচ্ছিল। সে রাস্তায় কোথাও থামেনি। কিছুক্ষণ পর খরগােশ জেগে উঠল। সে কচ্ছপকে লক্ষ্যবস্তুর কাছাকছি দেখতে পেল। সে দ্রুত দৌড়াল কিন্তু কচ্ছপ তার আগেই লক্ষ্যস্থানে পৌছে গেল। খরগােশ হেরে গিয়ে খুবই লজ্জা পেল। এরপর খরগােশ সবসময় নিজেকে বলত, “নিজের ক্ষিপ্রগতির উপর গর্ব করােনা, কারণ ধীর এবং স্থিরই লক্ষ্যে জয়লাভ করেছে।” সে আর কোনােদিন কচ্ছপকে ব্যঙ্গ করেনি।
